LA Times: Ron Paul Beats Fred and Rudy--Again!

Do recall that the Charleston Daily Mail conducted a poll for republican Presidential elections back in late spring, online, where they also listed Fred Thompson as a candidate, even though he had not declared, and excluded Ron Paul. The Daily Mail should now have their hat in hand.

As for basing everything on national polls, that has now proven erroneous since Iowa, New Hampshire, and Michigan primaries. Don Surber's and Vic Sprouse's candidates, Thompson and Giuliani, respectively, are not doing as well as Ron Paul whom everyone wrote off as not standing a chance. In case you missed it, here are the Michigan results again:

MICHIGAN PRIMARY: RESULTS

Mitt Romney: 39%

John McCain: 30%

Mike Huckabee: 16%

Ron Paul: 6%

Fred Thompson: 4%

Rudy Giuliani: 3%

Fred Thompson was soundly defeated (almost last with 3 percent) by republican voters in New Hampshire, while Paul and Giuliani about tied.

Could it be that the republican establishment is completely out of touch with the electorate? Could it be that the party has pushed top down on issues so long, that they have failed to hear what traditional conservatives, whom the neoconservatives usurped, are complaining about? Yes, it could very well be, and it is not a surprise to many of us, the disenfranchised.

BOTH parties have trampled the Constitution, which is precisely what partisan politics always does to the
law--bending, twisting, and circumventing it for their own pleasure. This is what Americans are angry about, and want to recover the legitimate and limited government that was originally established. The republican party is as self-blinded as the democrats when it comes to seeing reality beyond their establishment orientation. Post-9/11 government by the neoconservatives in particular made it clear just what kind of new tyranny is being erected under the guise of "defending freedom", and provoked traditional conservatives, as well as classic liberal and libertarians, to react strongly and wield the Constitution against it.

America's new government needs more than just a makeover or professed "change". What is required now is a revolution, actually a counter-revolution to restore its original form and restraints, both the States and people respectively. Ron Paul is the only real candidate of substantive "change", and change for the better. Cal Thomas said the same recently:

"Mike Huckabee... sounds like a big government Republican. The only one behaving like a real Republican is Ron Paul, who actually wants to cut spending and get government out of our lives. He won't win the nomination because too many Republican are into handouts and restribution, just like Democrats.

"It's a sad political season if you are a conservative... Maybe a miracle will happen and Republicans will start behaving like Republicans again."

GOP sources say a poor finish in Iowa may cause him to give up and endorse John McCain. What will Don Surber do? Ironic, since the Charleston Daily Mail's first poll in spring about who was the favorite GOP candidate included Fred Thompson (who had not yet declared or filed) and did not include Ron Paul, who has more delegates (prior to county elections for convention) than any other republican candidate for president. The purpose of Fred dropping out would be to prevent continued dilution of the pro-war primary voting, now spread across candidates other than Ron Paul, in order to narrow and increase the vote count for the neocon candidates. Yet this article says he would endorse John McCain, who has no prayer of winning.

Fox News 'Stacked the Deck' at Latest Debate?

Was the anti-Ron Paul fix in? GOP Jeffersonian conservative presidential candidate Ron Paul signaled that he believed it probably was in a victorious, post-debate interview, pointing out that he was only allowed 1,000 audience tickets [compared to others].

While Sean Hannity (see related story) indicated that Ron Paul supporters "stacked" the cell-phone poll that showed Ron Paul won the debate, the truth may be the reverse. By placing the debate in Florida, a stronghold of the Bush/Giuliani wing of the Republican party, and by setting the rules to select a neo-conservative audience, Fox and the Republican party apparently got what it could not get in New Hampshire - an anti-Ron Paul crowd.

Reports on the 'Net, for instance, indicate that Mitt Romney purchased the most tickets and had the most supporters in the audience, though Fox apparently never clearly stated how the audience was chosen. In any event the debate audience was hostile to Ron Paul's anti-American Empire statements and anti-war rhetoric. So was the handful of GOP voter-representatives that were gathered together to give a minute by minute reaction to the debate.

The audience scenario was in stark contrast to the larger American public that wants an end to militarism by a reported 70-30 margin. The apparently deliberate composition of the audience comes on the heels of anti-Ron Paul bias at another Rupert Murdoch media entity, the New York Post (see related story) that actually covered the recent Value Voter GOP debate without mentioning that Ron Paul came in third in an after-debate online poll.

The constant and deliberate strategies of placing Ron Paul at a disadvantage, or ignoring him altogether, are insignificant when taken alone, but, like pinpricks, add up and cause significant irritation. Nonetheless, the Ron Paul campaign has persevered; he has finished at or near the top in straw poll after straw poll; his fund raising has moved up dramatically each quarter; ridicule has given way to irritation and calculated avoidance.

Most recently, it would seem the mainstream media has ceased to emphasize the straw polls, and even the fund-raising that used to paint a portrait of a winning candidate. Instead, more and more, media "pundits" depend on mainstream polling data to marginalize Ron Paul and his constitutionalist message.

Trouble is, as Ron Paul himself pointed out last night, the polls that mainstream media is relying on still often do not even mention him as an option.

Yet the attacks continue to come; newspapers stories deliberately do not mention his successes, audiences are picked to oppose him, talk radio and TV hosts go out of their way to denigrate his points of view without ever explaining exactly what they are.

It also states in the article that "Romney's campaign actively petitioned supporters to vote online whether or not they had attended the conference." So that would be Romney "slamming the polls", not Ron Paul, wouldn't it?

Note Ron Paul dashed both Giuliani and Fred Thompson. Note as well that
"permanent tax reductions" and taxes are two of the leading values issues, as well as abortion opposition and defending marriage (something Presidents actually have little influence legally upon, more so the states).

This shows that Ron Paul is a serious contender. It also shows with Huckabee that republican voters are dissatisfied with Giuliani. Too bad people are blind to Huckabee's lack of constitutional integrity, or lack of a lower tax plan (Paul would eliminate the Income Tax entirely!), and fail to see that unjust war (the neocon's Iraq, Iran, Syria plan) is also murder, more so than abortion! This shows the ignorance and biblical illiteracy of "values voters'" judgment.

Republican Debate: FOX Distorts, Won't Let You Decide; Ron Paul and Why Hannity Should be Fired

Fox claims in their so-called electronic journalism efforts that "We report, you decide", and claimto be "fair and balanced". But as usual, FOX proved itself to be unfair, unbalanced, and the direct intervention of journalists, hosts, and debate questioneers into the candidates responses--subjecting them to personal ridicule, insulting their intelligence, disrespecting their tenure of public service as Congressmen or other authorities--is a violation of the ethics of journalism in such a Debate Format, and an obvious attempt TO CONTROL THE APPEARANCE AND OUTCOME of some candidates--something the arrogant Sean Hannity was deliberately doing, as if he were not interviewing a Congressman but taking "a caller" for a talk show. This is a direct violation of the code of ethics for journalism, and contrary to FOX's own self-righteous and false claims of "fair and balanced".

Pejorative insults, condescending remarks, arrogant interjections, bias and misleading statements, derogatory and dismissive assertions (without facts or evidence) for the purpose of (not clarifying or reporting but) injuring and impugning a candidates responses are unacceptable as far as journalistic ethics. (Don Surber could learn a thing or two about ethics in journalism as well).

Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.

Journalists should:

— Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid inadvertent error. Deliberate distortion is never permissible.


— Diligently seek out subjects of news stories to give them the opportunity to respond to allegations of wrongdoing.



— Make certain that headlines, news teases and promotional material, photos, video, audio, graphics, sound bites and quotations do not misrepresent. They should not oversimplify or highlight incidents out of context.


— Support the open exchange of views, even views they find repugnant.



— Give voice to the voiceless; official and unofficial sources of information can be equally valid.



— Distinguish between advocacy and news reporting. Analysis and commentary should be labeled and not misrepresent fact or context.

— Distinguish news from advertising and shun hybrids that blur the lines between the two.

CONCLUSION NO. 1

From this we may conservatively assert that Sean Hannity and other FOX questioners violated these journalistic ethical standards. They did NOT brand their interviews as "commentary or opinion" and attempted to "misrepresent", "distort", and prevent the "open exchange". Sean Hannity talks as if HE HIMSELF IS THE CANDIDATE. That is not reporting. That is distorting. This disqualifies Sean Hannity as a "professional journalist".

But Sean Hannity, unprofessional journalist, violating the plain and obvious code of ethics in a post-debate "interview" (i.e. inquisition), was not satisfied at this. While he himself urged viewers to text message their votes, he then dismisses the vote results (where Ron Paul was winning)--without evidence, and with direct insults! In other words, "We report" was not only violated but "you decide"!

Another excellent analysis and article, Ron Paul Railroaded by FOX News Debate, captures and disproves this outrageous lie and "conspiracy theory" of "text spamming" (pay attention Don Surber) by both Hannity and Colmes thus:

5. Dismissing the Phone Poll

Upon learning that Ron Paul was blowing away the field in the Fox News “who won the debate” telephone poll, Sean Hannity sighed in frustration and said “I’m sick of this.” Ron Paul also was the early winner of the first Fox News debate. One has to ask, if they’re sick of Paul winning, why don’t they stop conducting the poll? Colmes then laughs off the Paul victory, stating that the Paul supporters are just dialing in repeatedly. This caused me to raise an eyebrow. The text-voting is no-charge. Is Fox News really counting multiple text-votes like some American Idol episode?

To test this hypothesis, I voted for Ron Paul via text twice. I got two text-messages back from Fox. The first:

FOX News UVOTE: Thank you for voting! Watch Hannity & Colmes for the results.

The second message I got from Fox was:

You have already voted on tonight’s debate. Thank you for your participation.

Now, if you think that Paul supporters are sitting in a warehouse with a farm of activated cell phones using each one to text in to the Fox News poll, maybe you could see where Colmes is coming from. (watch somebody try). Somebody should tell the correspondents that, in fact, you cannot vote twice. The reason that Ron Paul continues to win these post-debate polls is because he has the kind of supporters who care about their candidate and are willing to pick up a phone and dial a few numbers when necessary. It’s enthusiasm, plain and simple. It’s amazing how people can get excited about the message of liberty.

What else is interesting about this recent victory is that Hannity accused Ron Paul supporters of spamming the polls after the FIRST Fox debate. I didn’t text vote then, so I’m not sure if spamming was even possible at that time. What I do remember is that after the first debate, Paul got a huge lead, then slowly lost ground to Romney throughout the night (maybe Romney supporters started spamming?). This time, Ron Paul got the lead and kept it easily, finishing with a 33% to 18% (Huckabee) lead - a landslide. If they did fix the spamming issue between the first and second debates, it obviously worked in Paul’s favor.

ast, it would be very easy for Fox to recognize that Ron Paul did well in their poll and leave it at that, but they choose to go out of their way to discredit their own numbers - and ONLY because Paul won, they wouldn’t have the same attitude if Romney ever wins one of these things (which he won’t because he’s a waffler and people don’t trust him).

6. Sean Hannity

He gripes constantly with Ron Paul as though he’s offended that he’s in the race. Letting this guy near a forum that coins the slogan “we report, you decide” is like inviting Hitler to a bar mitzvah. It’s a trap.

Conclusion No. 2

Therefore we may again conservatively assert that Sean Hannity, Allen Combs, and our local Don Surber, violate the code of ethics of professional journalists by making GROUNDLESS ASSERTIONS AS IF THEY ARE FACT AND THUS INSERTING THEMSELVES INTO THE JOURNALISTIC PROCESS AND INTERFERING AND CONTROLLING PUBLIC PERCEPTION. Recall again from the journalists' code:

Journalists should:

— Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid inadvertent error. Deliberate distortion is never permissible.

The public has a right to demand that FOX live up to its claims "as advertised" of "we (merely) report, you (not us) decide". Journalists that violate their own claims and the journalistic code of ethics, like Sean Hannity, SHOULD BE FIRED, for they dimish the credibility of FOX and make its "advertised claims" untrue.

This should outrage intelligent thinking West Virginians, especially republican conservatives, who should desire a higher ethical standard for their own party's debates and political processes. This made one former Marine so indignant he wrote the following:

September 6, 2007 – The pompous Sean Hannity last night had the audacity to tell the Honorable Congressman Ron Paul that he (Hannity) was going to give Congressman Ron Paul a history lesson. If I had been sitting next to Hannity at that very moment, with God as my witness, I would have knocked Hannity’s teeth down his throat. To be certain, Sean Hannity is one of the few human beings that I can thing of that if I ever start to hit, I will have to be pulled off of before I beat to death. I honestly do not know if I could stop beating this bastard relying upon my own restraint.

Maybe it is Hannity’s pursed-lipped approach to his self-righteous piteous politics that so enrages me – or maybe it’s simply the fact that I sense he is a big wimp that wouldn’t survive even the first week of Marine Corps boot camp. Having spent 10 plus years in the Corps and having served as a Marine Corps Drill Instructor on Parris Island, SC I believe grants me the liberty to make such a personal assessment of this worthless chicken hawk and hater of authentic liberty and freedom.

May his tribe increase, and public demand for ethical standards drive Sean Hannity off the air for violating FOX's own ethical and advertised claims of "fair and balanced"--"we report, you decide". Reliance on this medium for "news and information", while perhaps entertaining, is contrary to an educated public and is the bastion of nothing less than political propaganda.

Texas Republican Straw Poll - Ron Paul delegates Suppressed

It is clear that the "establishment" republicans are AFRAID of Ron Paul, who has genuine enthusiastic grass roots support. The republican establishment is afraid to give fair election process, so they change the rules, and corrupt it, and it is no coincidence that the entire republican operation throughout the country have made major shifts to influence and control the outcomes of their primaries. Ron Paul Finishes Third in Texas Straw Poll behind Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter

Atlanta, Ga. 9/4/2007 3:20 PM GMT (FINDITT)

Ron Paul finished a disappointing [editorial slurr] third in the Texas Straw Poll after Duncan Hunter and recently announced Republican candidate Fred Thompson received more votes that the congressman.

Hunter, a congressman from California, managed to get 534 votes while Thompson received 266 votes, 49 more than Ron Paul.

Many of the Paul supporters who traveled to Fort Worth for the Texas straw poll left frustrated after the results were announced on Saturday. Ron Paul clearly had the advantage in supporters but the straw poll was set up in a manner that restricted voting to individuals who have been delegates or alternates at recent Republican conventions.

A very close third is not "disappointing", given the tactics used. So where was Willard Milton Romney or Giuliani? That is disappointing, embarrassing no? Of course they would not do well in Texas. The above restrictions, along with the utter deceit and corruption below, show further how Fred only beat Paul by 49 votes, while the other front runners did not even show. Again, with all this, clearly Ron Paul is a contender, as the consistency of his straw polls shows, per previous articles.

Yes Ranting, the Straw Poll was set up and as crooked as any political action I have seen in years, after 50 years of being a Republican I can honestly say I am ashamed of my association with that group. This Poll has all the earmarks of a Fascist Regime and a staged event to discredit only one man. Ron Paul. His people from San Antonio had registered online and gotten a receipt saying registration at 10 AM. The busload was there but the registrars grabed their paper work and left the tables at exactly 10 AM saying the registration ENDED at 10. They refused to allow that busload of folks into the voting area. YET... just a few moments later another group showed up that were not Paul supporters and were ushered in by the back door. Yes that was documented and photographed.

FOX has a Problem with Fred Thompson; Neocons Push Anti-Gun Giuliani

The "liberal media" is after Fred Thompson, only this time it's FOX news. And not only FOX in their recent coverage but from "conservative pundits" who are clearly pushing Giuliani, dismissing many very conservative issues like abortion and 2nd amendment rights. Here is a snip which shows just that, and note that the neoconservative position--clearly NOT a conservative position--expressed by Charles Krauthammer (neocon insider haunting the Washington Post; Project for New American Century) in pushing down Thompson (and Ron Paul) and promoting Giuliani, along with a coordinated attack (first his actor-speaker skills) aided by Jeff Birnbaum (both are Jewish neoconservatives) in this portion from HeadingRight.

Jeff Birnbaum: Well, I think that Thompson ran into a bit of a problem in his speech the other day before the Veterans of Foreign Wars up in Kansas City. He didn’t seem to know his own applause lines. Even though he’s a practiced actor, he didn’t seem to have rehearsed very much for his speech. He isn’t much of a player in a lot of the serious, substantive debates that are going on. I recently wrote a story about each of the candidate’s views, for example , of the big credit crunch that’s been shaking the markets around the world and Thompson wouldn’t even play either because he didn’t have a proposal or because he didn’t want to speak out because he’s not an official candidate. Uh, none the less –

Brit Hume: In other words, he had no articulated position?

Jeff Birnbaum: Nothing to say and has been shooting at people like Rudy Giuliani over his anti, uh his gun control position which Thompson complained was too much anti-gun. I think that’s in general a problem of the whole Republican race, where they’ve been attacking each other in a way that may pull whoever ultimately wins down, when it gets to the general election.

Charles Krauthammer: You know this could be a first. The Thompson campaign is going negative before it even begins. (Laughing from panel.) I don’t know if it’s ever happened, but it’s historic. Look, he’s a good guy; he’s a nice guy but he was in the Senate for a while, and I don’t think he’s left many traces. He’s an actor who is popular, accomplished in other ways, and uh, has had a boomlet. I think the boomlet was…. is ….

Brit Hume: Peaked?

Charles Krauthammer: May have been spent. [Watch him push Giuliani after discrediting Thompson, along with FOX]. Umh, but what’s really interesting here is — I think the Giuliani effect. This is a guy who defies gravity. Everybody expected six months ago, that yes, he was high in the numbers, because people associated him with 9/11, but when Republicans discover how socially liberal he is, his numbers will plummet, and they haven’t. People, I think [he hopes] are aware of his positions on abortion, etc., and I think the answer is, that Republicans are growing up, and they understand that a president is not going to revolutionize… He’s not going to have a revolution on social affairs. [What about 2nd amendment?] Uh, Reagan did not on abortion. It’s not going to happen and what’s important is the war on terror. Democrats are not reliable. Giuliani’s a guy who in a Democratic year, which is going to be ‘08, can win. After all, he’s a guy who won re-election twice in Sodom and Gomorrah [New York].

Fred Barnes: Yeah, and now you’ve touched on the important issue I think. Here’s what helps him [Giuliani] uh with social conservatives and so on, who obviously don’t agree with him on abortion, others don’t agree with him on guns, because he’s a gun controller, and that is… he gets credit for cleaning up New York tangibly. Now, people visit New York; they know Times Square is different — they know crime is way down. They know New York is very different; it’s not just 9/11. It’s, it’s uh, it’s image, which I think is a largely accurate one of the mayor who changed Sodom and Gomorrah and turned it into a city that it’s safe to visit. Uh, that’s important.

Not very conservative are they? Note Fred Barnes strong statement, that Giuliani "is a gun-controller". But so is Mitt (Willard Milton) Romney of Massachussets, also not a social conservative! Both Fred and Romney are members of the CFR too. (See previous posts).


So just look who the neoconservatives want, and just what they stand for, apparently ignoring moral issues altogether and stripping away our second amendment rights, as Thompson accused of Giuliani. Ron Paul vs. Other Candidates: Straw Poll Results

From paul4prez.blogspot.com this news is significant. We had posted an earlier Georgia Republican Straw Poll previously here in this article on Surveillance polling, which Ron Paul also won.

Recall also that in the Iowa Straw (see results and analysis here), outside of Romney, the "lead candidates" came in embarrassingly low, including Fred Thompson (they were all on the ballot), who polls high nationally (on a fictitious image by the superficial who answered the phone polls), but Iowa straw-voters (among the most interested) were not impressed. Maybe those are worth another look too, and ask yourself, "why"? WHOSE SUPPORT IS "REAL" AND JUST WHO'S ARE "PUSHED" OR MANUFACTURED?

Every candidate was included on the ballot (Guliani and McCain even were at the Debate!) whether they "campaigned" or "officially pariticipated" or not. (Note that religion was a big factor in Iowa, if you look at Brownback's website about the campaign battles and religious controversy, and if you consider the Iowa is a high Mormon index state, 2nd to Utah, and it would have been rather simple for Romney to obtain a monolithic vote--his campaign bought thousands of tickets and offered bussing--which is common among Mormon candidates).

FACT: Ron Paul performs better in straw polls (not just post-debate polling, which do not permit multiple votes) than do the leading candidates who poll better in the extrapolated national polling. The following are the latest results.

Ron Paul Wins NC, AL, NH Straw Polls, 3rd in IL

Ron Paul continued his strong performance in votes requiring active participation and informed voters, racking up wins this week in straw polls in New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Alabama, and placing third in Illinois.

Today's Alabama straw poll win was the most impressive, an incredible 81% showing in a poll of 266 Republicans who paid $35 each to participate, and was billed as Alabama's only Republican straw poll. Dr. Paul followed that up with a 73% showing in the Strafford County Republican Party straw poll in New Hampshire, after putting in a personal appearance this afternoon. (Huckabee and Tancredo also attended.) He placed third in the largest of the four straw polls, earning 19% of 922 votes cast at the Illinois State Fair.

The next big test is the Texas Straw Poll on September 1st. In an apparent move to prevent Ron Paul's enthusiastic supporters from dominating the results, the Republican Party of Texas has limited participation to delegates to past state or national conventions. Ron Paul has not been deterred by the tactics, and will be treating the delegates to a pre-vote Texas Pride party at the Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth the night before, featuring Texas blues legend Jimmie Vaughan.
