This excellent interview with someone who knows what he's talking about and who helped Colin Powell make the "case" for Iraq before the U.N.. Congress should carefully consider his experienced viewpoint instead of listening to AIPAC, the neoconservatives, and "the McCainiacs" (see previous article by Pat Buchanan) who support it for the sake of the aggressive "new middle east" Israeli agenda.
Congress should also listen more to the vast majority of the American people who oppose a strike on Syria. Yes, that especially includes Rep. Shelly Moore Capito who is inclined to support wars for AIPAC and seldom listens to war dissent from West Virginians. (Sen. Manchin has the same tendency until its popular to withdraw). Surprisingly, she has been reluctant thus far to support the Syrian strike, saying
“I’ve been in Congress for a long enough time to know that, just because the intelligence says it’s so on first blush, I’m not sure we’re all going to accept that without the deep detail that I think we need to have and that the President should bring to Congress,” she said.
It all hinges on the pretended "intelligence". And also which party presents it, unfortunately. But is that still enough reason to support American military conflict in another Middle East conflict that does not threaten Americans? Another Middle East engagement will certainly hurt our economy and deficit spending as oil prices will rise again and Congress will spend billions more.

Why is Obama making plans to launch cruise missiles on Syria? According to a “senior administration official … who insisted on anonymity,” President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons on his own people last week in the two-year-old Syrian civil war.
But who deputized the United States to walk the streets of the world pistol-whipping bad actors? Where does our imperial president come off drawing “red lines” and ordering nations not to cross them? Neither the Security Council nor Congress nor NATO nor the Arab League has authorized war on Syria. Who made Barack Obama the Wyatt Earp of the Global Village?
Moreover, where is the evidence that WMDs were used and that it had to be Assad who ordered them?Such an attack makes no sense. Firing a few shells of gas at Syrian civilians was not going to advance Assad’s cause but, rather, was certain to bring universal condemnation on his regime and deal cards to the War Party, which wants a U.S. war on Syria as the back door to war on Iran.
First came the erection of the Security State under George W. Bush after that conveniently labeled date of 9/11 introducing the Big Government and Big Brother institutions and programs like Homeland Security, REAL ID (which West Virginia incorporated unnecessarily into the DMV issued drivers licenses, despite resistance), USA PATRIOT ACT (which handed over your Social Security number to banks, enabled arbitrary detention or searches and seizures without a warrant), expanded TSA searches, and much more. Suddenly, free Americans were all to be treated as terrorist suspects and "show their papers" and be opened to Federal (and state) surveillance, electronic and with a growing camera system. It was something that George Orwell had warned of in his book 1984, and now almost prophetically.
Now comes the Nanny State under Barack Obama with the Affordable Healthcare Act (neither affordable nor about improving health care) which is now more openly disclosed (though we warned of it before) as another data-mining system on all Americans easily tapped by Federal or even State authorities (which work in tandem with the Feds) whenever someone abuses or taps this medical surveillance system.
Read about the intrusive privacy-breaking power of Obamacare and then you will understand how the Security State + the Nanny State = Totalitarian superstructure (all unconstitutional per the 4th and other amendments) over all "free Americans".

A growing number of firearm and firearm-related companies have stated they will no longer sell items to states, counties, cities and municipalities that restrict their citizens' rights to own them.
According to The Police Loophole, 34 companies have joined in publicly stating that governments who seek to restrict 2nd Amendment rights will themselves be restricted from purchasing the items they seek to limit or ban.
"The Federal Government and several states have enacted gun control laws that restrict the public from owning and possessing certain types of firearms...If a product that we manufacture is not legal for a private citizen to own in a jurisdiction, we will not sell that product to a law-enforcement agency in that jurisdiction."
The editor of the Charleston Gazette, known for its blatant anti-gun advocacy (i.e. their "bearing arms in West Virginia" comments appear regularly to harass law abiding citizens in Sunday's opinion briefs), should be interested in this.
Senator 'Jay' Rockefeller owns one of these.
"I voted for the assault weapons ban in 1994, which also included a ban
of high capacity clips, and it's unacceptable that it hasn't been

Take a look at the arms that (if correct in the interview below) Senator Jay Rockefeller is bearing! For the record, this is what is being labeled an "assault weapon" (anything semi-automatic with high capacity clips), the very type of weapons that Obama and the Left side of Congress in particular want to limit by Executive Order or new unconstitutional legislation. Sen. Joe Manchin (NRA approved) has advocated limits too.
It makes the rest of us appear rather tame by comparison, doesn't it? Now by comparison even Senator Joe Manchin may not be as well armed as this, who fired a round from a .306 to gain points in a political campaign ad. Yet both of them seem to want to limit the types of arms West Virginians can bear, grossly limiting the 2nd amendment by pleas of "necessity". What do you think of that?
Yet Senator "Jay" Rockefeller owns one of these according to Erich Pratt of Gun Owners of America (i.e. "the only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington"--Ron Paul) in this recent interview and debate below with a very frustrated Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC (point made just after the 4:00 min. mark).
Mitchell: "Who...why would someone own a Bushmaster?"
Pratt: "[Senator] Jay Rockefeller [D-West Virginia] owns an AR-15".
Touche'! Point scored. After all, the Gazette always likes to make a big story of any hypocrisy. Well here is a good piece for them to put into print then, from an opposing view in their next "bearing arms in West Virginia" piece. But don't hold your breath for it.
Be sure to tell your two West Virginia Senators what you think of Obama's plethora of executive orders or any limitations and further regulations of gun ownership in this state. Call or write them now, and Rep. Capito too, since she is aiming to take Senator Rockefeller's seat upon his announced retirement at the end of his term.
What is the real purpose of the 2nd amendment of the Constitution? Is it to protect the ability to hunt? Or merely self-defense? Or is it more than that? Let's hear from the author of the Constitution himself. Here is just a few excerpts of what Mr. Madison had to say about it.

Is this clear enough? Something is very wrong when the government
becomes "afraid to trust the people with arms". It would be a major
revolution from America's foundational grounds of government from a "free country" to a tyrannical state. Even
after the Civil War the armies of the Southern States, particularly Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, were permitted by
General Grant to keep their weapons upon their surrender. So why should
American's rights be taken away now because of some insane criminals?
In no other case are criminals allowed to infringe upon the rights of
law abiding citizens to "prevent tragedies like this". If that were the
case we would have no rights at all.
Congress has no legal authority to pass any law that infringes on the free and unencumbered right to bear all kinds and types of private arms, including "assault" (i.e. actually semi-automatic) weapons and multiple clips, and that without compulsory registration, tracking, or any other "infringement". Only those legally tried and convicted and sentenced lose their rights. No one else.
Listen to Walter Williams on this, who takes President Obama and Congress--including Senator Joe Manchin--and the very bias media to school about this subject, and sets the record straight.
By the way, "Mountaineers are always free" (West Virginia's state motto) only if they resist such anti-second amendment tyranny.
The facts about guns, crime, mass shootings, and gun control are very different than what the media has often portrayed. (By the way, the media loves the viewer and readership ratings of mass shootings and like tragic events which they splash across their newscasts and headlines for days after to retain their audience and ratings and increase ad revenues). The entire public, and especially Senator Joe Manchin and The Gazette in particular, should pay close attention to this thoughtful and apolitical analysis about gun control and its faulty premise. Did you know that mass shootings have not increased over the last few decades? Did you know that most every mass shooting took place in a "gun free zone", where other people could not be armed even with a concealed carry permit? Did you know that "gun control" really is only gun centralization and disarms the innocent while not preventing criminals from obtaining or using them? Those and many other important facts are related in this excellent analysis for the public and Congress to carefully consider before trying to legislate a "fix" for mass shootings, which in fact would make everyone more unsafe and vulnerable instead.
It is also unconstitutional, per the Second Amendment, of course to prevent the obtaining and bearing of personal arms (which the Supreme Court recently ruled on striking down some municipal laws on handgun restrictions) and every political officer (local, State and Federal) has sworn to "defend and protect" the laws in the Constitution as a condition for entering and remaining in office. They should all be held accountable and the media should not entice them to violate their constitutional oaths. That accountability is what makes Sen. Joe Manchin so afraid of what he said, and then said again with Hoppy on West Virginia talk radio (i.e. he was for a ban on assault weapons or clips before he was against it), and why he appears to be trying to get the NRA to compromise with him (to shield him) for a (pretended) "solution", which is unachievable by gun control methods. Even President Obama has tread softly (with the subtlety of a serpent) on this issue; publicly that is.

First they came for the Islamists. Now they are coming for Americans.
Now during the Obama Administration there has been significant talk about "home grown terrorists"--i.e. Americans, instead of just "radical Islamists" coming in from the outside. It was the Obama Administration's Janet Napolitano (or Napolean-tano) that sent out watch bulletins like these just a few years ago which proves the danger of government assessments about "home grown terrorism".
Ever since 9/11 (that false-flag event done to change America completely as well as its global foreign policy) this blog has pointed out the dangers of America's post-9/11 government and its new unconstitutional superstructure, especially of the new Department of Homeland Tyranny (aka Security; a very fascist, anti-Constitutional Dept. that blends domestic, federal policing, usurping the States, with the Dept. of Defense), the so-called USA PATRIOT ACT (which violates 4th and 5th amendments toward totalitarian surveillance and arrest powers, and destroys personal privacy and makes ID theft easier), and the REAL ID Act (which coerces states to turn drivers licenses into National ID cards with biometrics) to name just three major changes. All this was done by tricks in legislation and often with "must-pass" defense authorization bills and funding. Whenever you hear about a "must-pass" piece of legislation in Congress be very worried and read the fine print.
Well now President Obama signed what he knew was controversial very secretly this last New Year's Eve (while Americans were very distracted) after Congress passed it as "necessary to protect us against terrorism". Buried in the fine print of the National Defense Appropriations Act of 2012, passed by our totally untrustworthy bipartisan Congress before the end of last year, was the most dangerous and unconstitutional provision that permits the arbitrary and absolute detention of any American citizen based upon the very fallible, and sometimes politically or sinisterly motivated, designation by someone in authority within the Federal government that said individual is a terrorism threat or "material supporter of" such--without grand jury, trial, or even a judge-signed warrant for their arrest. The purpose of the Constitution is to keep Americans safe from the Government while this dangerous legislation permits the Feds to take any American citizen, by-passing all Constitutional provisions in the Bill of Rights that keeps Americans free.
The Founding Fathers warned us about governments that do this which is why the wrote a Constitution to prevent it! This is just another column and support of the creeping totalitarianism being erected in America under the exaggerated threat of "terrorism" (while many more Americans, including West Virginians, are reported in the newspapers to be killing each other daily) since that infamous (and conveniently date-labelled) 9/11 "catalyzing event". How long will Americans continue to let this happen, while waving flags, by Presidents and Congressmen who have sworn to "defend and uphold (the supreme law of) the Constitution of the United States"? The truth is that Americans are no longer "free" but like the proverbial gradually-boiling-frog-in-the-pot of a Totalitarian stew.

When a letter was sent to republican Representative Shelley Moore Capito against this bill in December, this is the letter we received back, fully supporting what President Obama signed on Dec. 31st:
But contrary to Rep. Capito's letter, and writing in bold that "American citizens will NOT be detained under this bill", while she boasted it passed the committee "with my support", the following will prove that this is not the understanding of many from both left and right politically the way this law was written! Intentions aside, many claim that the law actually gives broad arbitrary powers to any Presidential administration or federal authority to hold any American at will contrary to their Constitutional rights under the 5th amendment. Let us call witnesses from the right and left and let's also call Fox's Judge Napolitano (3rd video) to give their view to the reader.
BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT ARE AWAKENING TO THE TYRANNY NDAA 2012 REPRESENTS
We will now prove that this article is neither hyperbole nor partisan whatsoever but is concerned with the real freedom of all Americans under the Constitution by evidence showing growing alarms from both left and right about this tyrannical and sinister legislation.

Each year, Congress authorizes the budget of the Department of Defense through a National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA of 2012, however, is unlike any previous ones. This year’s legislation contains highly controversial provisions that empower the Armed Forces to engage in civilian law enforcement and to selectively suspend due process and habeas corpus, as well as other rights guaranteed by the 5th and 6th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, for terror suspects apprehended on U.S. soil. The final version of the bill passed the House on December 14, the Senate the following day (ironically, the 220th birthday of the Bill of Rights). It was signed into law by President Obama on New Year’s Eve. With his signature, for the first time since the Internal Security Act of 1950 and the dark days of the McCarthy era that followed, our government has codified the power of indefinite detention into law. This pernicious law poses one of the greatest threats to civil liberties in our nation’s history.
All Americans, therefore, should be concerned, yet the U.S. Media has been strangely silent about it.
Bush introduced Preventive War (not truly pre-emptive war upon imminent threat)--a dangerous foreign policy (offensive instead of defensive wars) whilenow Obama has signed into law Preventive Detention--a dangerous domestic policy.
Governor Joe Manchin and his campaign underestimated Raese's challenge for Byrd's Senate seat. Now they are fighting desparately to win. Campaign Manchin overestimated themselves and were entirely blind, until too late, at how upset average West Virginians are at Washington, thinking that the outrage and discontent was "just a Republican thing". Wrong.
Manchin, who wanted the glorious stamp of approval from the voters, might be wishing now he would have just appointed himself to fill Byrd's seat, which as Governor he had full power to do. But, he was absolutely sure he would be stamped 'approved'--relying on his popularity as Governor--without any trouble from an outsider with almost no political experience. Wrong again. A proverb warns: "Pride comes before the fall", and the "certainty" of Manchin winning the election (as he thought when deciding not to appoint himself) seems to be slipping from his political grasp. Rasmussen just reported that Raese's lead has increased.
It's all about Obama and a referendum against the present Congress and Obama administration in power that has railroaded sweeping new European type legislation that is the most socialist since FDR.
Now West Virginia wants change, ironically, and Raese is just a far better bet than the governor who is loyal to the Democrat party establishment. Obama is experiencing blow-back to his "Change" agenda. Mark it, for it will continue two years after this as well, when Rockefeller's seat comes up for election.
The State and local media too, which leans Democrat, has underestimated just how angry and vehement West Virginians are against the present Washington agenda. Even Rockefeller would have a hard time this year, if his seat was up for election against even the most novice Republican candidate.
The NBC video also proves the Gazette and Democrat establishment wrong in trying to portray the Tea Party movement as "extreme right-wing republican conservatives", as they interview Democrats voting for Raese too.
Since the founding of America the idea of the Divine Rights of Kings has been held as abominable and a doctrine that turned Kings into tyrants who could do whatever they pleased contrary to the common national will. The idea of having kings became repugnant and the founders' Constitution installed the Presidency instead in a three-way balance of power. Today, however, with Barack Obama coming before the public via various media constantly, the presidency has been expanded and enlarged to almost a dictatorial position. Historically, this is a recent phenomenon.
This excellent podcast is about how the role of U.S. president has radically changed in America in contrast to what the Founding Fathers in the Federalist Papers had in mind. Especially beginning in the 20 century (as wars increased to a global scale) American presidents began to usurp more and more power and have become a "national leader" in attempt to control and set the agenda for the entire country instead of the more limited role originally intended.

When Manchin campaigned for governor 6 years ago he promised to improve the state climate for business in West Virginia. CNBC's state scoreboard says it all.
Since President Obama is focused on the economy, what does Manchin bring to the table? Only his "Open for Business" results .
Manchin cut taxes, good. But it was a food tax, which most states don't have. So he gets a C.
He managed the budget well, good, but only by bringing in casino table games to increase state revenues on top of lottery schemes. This increases revenues by defrauding others, their duped consent notwithstanding (what gambling is, and why its a crime until legalized, for the "house always wins"). And this trick was done by circumventing and violating the Constitution of West Virginia, as the WVU Law Professor interview proves (and the state supreme court refused to hear in appeal!) Only 4 of 55 counties got to vote.
In a string of GOP primary elections stretching from now until September, the future ideological composition of the elephant party hangs in the balance. Many of these primaries pit self-consciously hard-core conservatives, often aligned with theTea Party movement, against “establishment” candidates—some who are incumbents, and some who are simply vulnerable to being labeled “RINOs” or “squishes” for expressing insufficiently ferocious conservative views.
Bingo, like we posted previously, with McCain vs. Hayworth and Rand Paul vs. Grayson (who now has NEO-conservative Cheney pitching for him) as two case studies in point. The GOP Establishment is now skeered. They should be, they do not represent the views of the mass of real conservative constituencies, nor the Constitution either. Independents now ruleand determine winners, and both the Democrats and Republican Establishments are waking up to that fact, but do not want to make the real changes needed to their present courses.
There is a very silver lining in the rather dark cloud of financial reform legislation the U.S. House just passed. This would be a historical first and could bring real change. This is a first step toward Congress finally exercising its Constitutional authority over the PRIVATE Federal Reserve Bank System, which has never before been held accountable for anything. Now if only the Senate does the same.
There is enough bipartisan support in the Congress very likely to overcome an Obama Veto (since thus far he has shilled for the Banksters, with the help of former New York Federal Reserve Bank Chairman, Timothy Geithner.)
I have just received confirmation from a very credible Congressional source that the bill to audit the Federal Reserve is included in the House financial reform legislation which passed today. My source says:
The Fed audit provision which passed the Financial Services Committee a few weeks ago is part of the bill. This is a real milestone, as it means that the full House of Representatives has passed a bill that mandates a complete audit of the Fed.
The effort to audit the Fed - supported by 79% of the American people - is gaining traction.
My source says that it will take a couple of days for the GAO to assemble all of the amendments into a single text.

This is a non-partisan post, and excerpts of a great speech, to honor a true statesman (on his Congressional milestone and day of tribute), not a mere politician, who resisted the powers of propaganda and the tyranny of political-correctness to speak "truth to power" before it became more popular (and easier), in the aftermath of Sept. 11th.
This speech will be a historical classic (read it closely, not only its philosophic and practical discourse on truth, but wise analysis of post-9/11 national susceptibility of the public mind to rush into error) during the Bush presidency. Even now party loyalists, fearful of their political standing in the eyes of others, will dare not acknowledge its truth publicly, even though it now stands vindicated in full.
But let everyone, as the Bible so wisely counsels,"give honor to whom honor is due" and "rise up before the hoary (grey) head", in respect (instead of irreverent mockery for an aged man's frailties or weaknesses), for a Senator who has truly distinguished himself in not only age, but wisdom, oratory, industry, and integrity before his Congressional peers. It is a sad commentary upon Congress that there are few who bear these excellent marks and characteristics that he shares with some of the greatest statesman in American history, which even so many West Virginians of both parties do not appreciate or admire.

No matter to what lengths we humans may go to obfuscate facts or delude our fellows, truth has a way of squeezing out through the cracks, eventually. But the danger is that at some point it may no longer matter. The danger is that damage is done before the truth is widely realized. The reality is that, sometimes, it is easier to ignore uncomfortable facts and go along with whatever distortion is currently in vogue....
...in the run-up to our invasion of Iraq featured the President and members of his Cabinet invoking every frightening image they could conjure, from mushroom clouds, to buried caches of germ warfare, to drones poised to deliver germ-laden death in our major cities. We were treated to a heavy dose of overstatement concerning Saddam Hussein's direct threat to our freedoms. The tactic was guaranteed to provoke a sure reaction from a nation still suffering from a combination of post-traumatic stress and justifiable anger after the attacks of 911.It was the exploitation of fear. It was a placebo for the anger. Since the war's end, every subsequent revelation that has seemed to refute the previous dire claims of the Bush Administration has been brushed aside. Instead of addressing the contradictory evidence, the White House deftly changes the subject. No weapons of mass destruction have yet turned up, but we are told that they will in time. Perhaps they yet will. But our costly and destructive bunker-busting attack on Iraq seems to have proven, in the main, precisely the opposite of what we were told was the urgent reason to go in. It seems also to have, for the present, verified the assertions of Hans Blix and the inspection team he led, which President Bush and company so derided....
...What has become painfully clear in the aftermath of war is that Iraq was no immediate threat to the United States. Ravaged by years of sanctions, Iraq did not even lift an airplane against us. We accept soft answers and shaky explanations because to demand the truth is hard, or unpopular, or may be politically costly....
But I contend that through it all, the people know. The American people unfortunately are used to political shading, spin and the usual chicanery they hear from public officials. They patiently tolerate it up to a point. But there is a line. It may seem to be drawn in invisible ink for a time, but eventually it will appear in dark colors, tinged with anger. When it comes to shedding American blood--when it comes to wreaking havoc on civilians, on innocent men, women and children, callous dissembling is not acceptable. Nothing is worth that kind of lie--not oil, not revenge, not re-election, not somebody's grand pipe dream of a democratic domino theory. And mark my words, the calculated intimidation that we see so often of late by the "powers that be" will only keep the loyal opposition quiet for just so long. Because eventually, like it always does, the truth will emerge. And when it does, this house of cards, built of deceit, will fall.

Tell Congress to act on this now! Legally limiting financial speculation (oil future's trading) by government regulation would send oil prices down to levels based upon physical supply and demand they claim. One only wonders if this would overcome the devalued dollar which also drives prices up. But they should do it immediately!
The argument of these financial analysts says that the propaganda about needing increased supply is wrong and that OPEC (and even Ahmadinejad's analysis) is correct that speculation in the trading market, dollar devaluation, and geopolitical war fears are driving the price.
It would be irresponsible to delay action on this credible analysis from those in the financial markets who have expertise on speculative trading.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The price of retail gasoline could fall by half, to around $2 a gallon, within 30 days of passage of a law to limit speculation in energy-futures markets, four energy analysts told Congress on Monday.
Testifying to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management said that the price of oil would quickly drop closer to its marginal cost of around $65 to $75 a barrel, about half the current $135.
Krapels said that it wouldn't even take 30 days to drive prices lower, as fund managers quickly liquidated their positions in futures markets.
"Record oil prices are inflated by speculation and not justified by market fundamentals," according to Gheit. "Based on supply and demand fundamentals, crude-oil prices should not be above $60 per barrel."

This is how the Senate panel and Sen. Rockefeller's report reads to many of us. (How did the LA Times scoop the Charleston Gazette or Daily Mail on this, from our own Senator?) Now it's official, the truth has emerged.
Sen. Jay Rockefeller of the Intelligence Committee made it clear it was not "faulty intelligence" that led to the war (as is the excuse on talk radio), but laid fault and an accusing finger forthrightly with little uncertainty. While he did not use the words in our headline the bolder paraphrase is justified by his own words.
...the administration repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when in reality it was unsubstantiated, contradicted, or even nonexistent
Not much ambiguity in that. Then there is this one too:
There is a fundamental difference between relying on incorrect intelligence and deliberately painting a picture to the American people that you know is not fully accurate.
And especially this one:

But note this:
The report amounts to the most direct rebuke to date of the Bush administration s use of intelligence to build support for the Iraq war. But the DOCUMENT, which catalogs hundreds of statements by administration officials, stops short of calling for any further inquiry or punishment.
Is not this grounds for impeachment--misleading a nation, and Congress, to go to war? What! All this misleading and lying, but no accountability? This is solid grounds for action, albeit late.
Sen. Robert C. Byrd was right, and much earlier than Rockefeller, and stood alone in his famous speech "The Truth Will Emerge". It has now officially emerged indeed, just as the elder Senator foretold:

U.S. House Blocks $163 Billion for Conflict in Iraq (Update3)
May 15 (Bloomberg) -- Anti-war Democrats and Republicans who objected to Democratic tactics in the U.S. House defeated a measure to provide $163 billion to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan until next summer.
Lawmakers rejected the measure by a 149 to 141 vote today with more than 130 members voting ``present.'' Many Democrats have refused to support spending on a war that they oppose, and Republicans opposed the legislation because the process limited their usual opportunity to offer alternate legislation.
``This is a $200 billion spending bill in which Republicans were shut out of the process,'' said Republican Tom Davis of Virginia, who voted present.
Some anti-war Democrats cheered, shouting, ``The war is over.''
The government has enough money to pay for the war through July under current law
Democrats knew before the vote that many in their party, including Pelosi, would vote against the war funding.
Good! Unjust and anti-constitutional undeclared wars have no obligation to be funded. Bring the troops home with the budget in place.
Congress is a separate and equal branch of government with the Executive, not its foot stool.
