Hollerin' at West Virginians to wake up to the truth! "Mountaineers are always free" is the real but forgotten State Motto that needs to be re-asserted before it is no longer true.
An alternative, non-partisan, independent media blog for West Virginia breaking through the official propaganda of contracted news and the distortions of Talk Radio.
While Gov. Palin sold Alaska's private jet, posting it at first on Ebay, to save taxpayers money, the democrat Gov. Joe Manchin III (who is a pilot) is buying a brand new and more expensive upgrade for the 2nd plane in West Virginia's state fleet.
Meanwhile West Virginia is one of the few states that has a food sales tax, the Dept of Highways wants to raise turnpike tolls (which it attempted earlier by slight of hand until a court granted an injunction), and the state was just granted $1.4 billion in federal "bailout" funds for states.
Taxpayers will remember this new state toy and luxury item should tolls increase or other taxes. This will also make the comparatively low income citizens a bit perturbed, especially during an economic crisis being played across TV everyday.
W.Va., with flying governor, looks to buy new plane
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- After just three and a half years with its single-engine Cessna Grand Caravan airplane, West Virginia is looking to trade up.
The state plans to buy a 2009 model of the plane, which costs around $2 million, because the latest model has de-icing features that make it more reliable in the winter.
The Cessna is one of two planes in the state's fleet, along with a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air 350.
Gov. Joe Manchin is certified to fly the Cessna, but not the bigger plane.
The state, which will trade in the old plane, has also specified that the color scheme for the new aircraft should be "dark blue" and "Las Vegas gold."
Just one day after George W. Bush left office, an NSA whistleblower has revealed that the National Security Agency's warrantless surveillance program targeted U.S. journalists, and vacuumed in all domestic communications of Americans, including, faxes, phone calls and network traffic.
Russell Tice, a former NSA analyst, spoke on Wednesday to MSNBC host Keith Olbermann. Tice has acknowledged in the past being one of the anonymous sources that spoke with The New York Times for its 2005 story on the government's warrantless wiretapping program.
After that story was published, President Bush said in a statement that only people in the United States who were talking with terrorists overseas would have been targeted for surveillance.
But Tice says, in truth, the spying involved a dragnet of all communications, confirming what critics have long assumed.
"The National Security Agency had access to all Americans' communications," he said. "Faxes, phone calls and their computer communications. ... They monitored all communications."
This is powerful testimony from an NSA insider that Bush lied about the extent and purpose of domestic spying being used upon Americans and this report reveals that journalists and media were specifically targeted. All this from a credible source, a former NSA analyst who had first hand knowledge and experience.
The mark of tyrannical governments is paranoia, particularly spying on the press as well as their own citizens.
This short video from Rev. Ted Pike of National Prayer Network (who also lobbies against Hate Crime laws) presents an alternative and more historically correct Christian view of Israel, the Jews, and the recent Israeli war with Gaza and Hamas, from a standpoint consistent with the teachings of the Bible. Needless to say you will not hear this view from Michael Agnello on 58Live Talk Radio in Charleston, nor from John Hagee of Christians United for Israel (CUFI; see Bill Moyer's Journal on it's powerful influence on Congress), nor from nominal Christian politicians including George W. Bush or Barack Obama (whose Chief of Staff is Rahm Israel Emanuel). Nevertheless this is the more historically held Christian view, with some slight variations. (This is not necessarily an endorsement of all of Ted Pike's theology or political views).
Professing Christians and churches in particular should review this presentation and reconsider their position on modern Israel, including its re-establishment and subsequent wars. Many claim that "Christians must support Israel" (confusing the historic biblical nation with the modern secular state) and say incessantly in defense of Israel that "the Jews are God's chosen people" and quote verses (out of context) that say "pray for the peace of Jerusalem" as if this alone is the scriptural basis for unqualified, absolute, and even a "divine right" of Israel to exist, and even for them to make war upon whatever pretext, frequently branding Palestinians and all Arab nations in total as "terrorists". This is the view that the neoconservative "war party" (many of whom are Jewish) and the powerful AIPAC Lobby do not want political Christians to believe, because it threatens their propaganda which has been so effective in creating a new perpetual "war on terrorism" (justified by 9/11) largely centering on the middle east which coincidentally fits so well with the agenda for a "Greater Israel".
After seeing this video it will become apparent that the superficially based belief of Christian Zionism and unqualified support for the modern state of Israel is in contradiction with both Scripture and reason if one is intellectually honest and has a high view of the Bible's authority.
CATO Institute offers some sanity in this short podcast from the typical propaganda and exaggerated threats about Terrorism that seem to justify the neoconservative (and now Obama) "war on terrorism" and Homeland "Security State" agendas. In fact they prove that the government's latest "WMD report" was based upon nothing, and therefore a fabricated lie to justify policy decisions.
Watch this video from CNN to see the type of arms being used against Gaza. Several times in this video a type of cluster or anti-personnel bomb (Daisycutter?) is seen exploding projectiles downward upon the city, and in a very wide spread fashion.
There is another choice for President, and we are not talking about Ralph Nader. These two brief videos outline the sharp contrast between Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate on West Virginia's ballot, versus John McCain, and Barack Obama.
West Virginians should consider a much better option for President and vote their conscience, for what they really want, instead of being herded into a compelled choice between a Nanny State (Communism) and Security State (Fascism), by two major party candidates who are both rated badly on gun rights, illegal immigration, the Constitution and our liberties, and especially unjust wars on pretenses of UN resolutions.
Both McCain and Obama are members of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) that are moving America away from the Constitution and national sovereignty toward a new world order of global government from which no nation can opt out. (This is what is really behind the "war on terrorism"). Neither McCain nor Obama talk at all of changing the "war on terrorism", and outside of Iraq they both sound almost identicle in their willingness to continue to invade sovereign countries and continue battles for "regime change", now including even against Russia. Is not one of the primary "changes" desired by many Americans to stop unconstitutional, perpetual, and unjust wars against or within sovereign nations under pretense of a "war on terrorism", which is really a Democratic Jihad for global Democracy? Both McCain and Obama will continue or expand this war policy, which also ruins the economy by driving up oil prices (war fears drive the speculators trading of oil futures), national debt (now at a record high), which in turn leads to economic domestic inflation!
The neoconservatives in particular (originally from the radical left) have hijacked the republican party (which offered nothing more than RINO primary candidates, except Ron Paul) and have destroyed true conservative and Constitutional principles under the plea of "necessity" for a radical global revolution consistent with CFR purposes toward Global Democracy. While Obama is justly being vetted for his communistic collectivist principles McCain's own dangerous corruptions and socialist policies (like taxpayer bailouts for Wall Street banksters and foreclosing homeowners) are are of the same bad principles. The truth be said it is the neoconservatives who have provoked the "blow-back" against Bush government and republicans for their unconstitutional radicalism which is driving the "change" support to give Democrats a supra-majority in Congress, and perhaps take the White House for Obama. The fall of republican majorities, therefore, can be laid directly at the feet of the radical neoconservative RINOs that infiltrated hiding behind George W. Bush.
Republicans have also almost entirely lost their plank for "individual liberty" by supporting and pushing the most liberty-killing, anti-constitutional legislation (PATRIOT ACT, Homeland Security, REAL ID, domestic spy powers, military for domestic policing, etc.) for a Security State that makes the Nanny State look almost tame. That government expanded under the watch of republicans supposedly against Big Government, increasing the national debt to over $10 Trillion, perhaps was the final straw that discredited and forfeited republicans authority to rule in the eyes of those who supported them. Neither McCain nor Obama offer anything to change this course. If Americans are not truly free from their own government's intrusiveness under the plea of "necessity", what freedom will there be left to defend?
McCain is no true conservative and his policies are scary. Between Obama and McCain you have a choice only of Socialism or Socialism Lite. But there is a third option, and if people do not vote for Principle they will only get corrupt Party representatives and never obtain what is just and right for themselves. Why support candidates whose principles you plainly do not believe in, just because they are the "lesser of two evils"? Continuing to vote for two parties and candidates that never bring the change you want is irrational and political insanity. Both play the Fear card to drive you to chose ONLY between one of them.
Take a look for yourself before you vote and then vote Principles over Party, unless you really do not want the real "change" that many of you say that you are really looking for.
Are you a Globalist or an American? Chuck Baldwin vs McCain and Obama
In case it was unclear, Sarah Palin is a "card-carrying feminist", excluding only abortion. Yet religious and Christian conservatives still praise her and claim the republican party is their party, although there is some growing dissent.
No longer can Rush Limbaugh talk of the radical "Femi-nazis" then without including republican VP candidate Palin in that monologue, can he? But feminism includes more than just abortion rights. And consider the threat of what feminism really is to society's integrity and constitution, even from a strictly secular viewpoint. For a unique critique on feminism see this article which says in part:
...most contemporary feminism...is what Sommers has called "gender feminism," which is essentially based on a form of Marxist theory that substitutes "gender" for Marx's category of "class," or simply adds the two together, usually with "race" thrown in. This sort of "race, class, and gender" theory is typically a dangerous form of political moralism, with the same totalitarian characteristics as other versions of Marxism have proven to display.
There is a slow awakening of just what Palin really represents among conservative Christians. An example of such Christian dissent against Palin is represented in an article here which underlines the hypocrisy of pretending she is "conservative" or even Christian in representation, even while the political left consider her a threat:
For years, conservative Christians have been outspoken in their opposition to the political vision of the radical feminist movement. Now they are supporting a woman for the second highest office in the land who is a self-identified feminist who wants to make feminist objectives a part of her political agenda.
What you hear alot of on talk radio (Rush, Hannity, et al) is that Feminism is being redefined, for Palin, as if only for those women who are pro-abortion rights. That is purposely misleading and intellectually dishonest, what can be called pure propaganda.
PALIN IS A POTENTIAL LIABILITY FOR MCCAIN AMONG CONSERVATIVES
If the dissent grows among Christian conservatives this could potentially then cost McCain losing at least a portion of his conservative base (which never liked him) more than helping him as perhaps he thought! Palin could be McCain's downfall.
If McCain is losing "moderate republicans" and now part of the conservative base (who might not vote, or vote for Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party), it will be impossible for him to win. Yet the better national polls show it very close, apparently meaning that conservatives have not yet left him. But could this account for some of the closing gap between McCain and Obama in West Virginia?
FFL Member Nominated for Vice President of the United States
According to The Anchorage Daily News published August 6, 2006, "Palin said last month that no woman should have to choose between her career, education and her child." The article went onto say that "she's a member of a pro-woman but anti-abortion group called Feminists for Life." "I believe in the strength and the power of women, and the potential of every human life,' she said."
Feminists for Life's policy is that all memberships are confidential. However, since Governor Palin has been public about her membership, we can confirm that Palin became a member in 2006.

The Truth must prevail over Political-Correctness for Just Judgement to rule
The men the American public admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth.
--H. L. Mencken
Judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey.

America's Government: Militant Democracy or Constitutional Republic?
Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths. -- James Madison In a democracy there is a centralization of governmental power in a simple majority. And that, visibly, is the system of government which the enemies of our republic are seeking to impose on us today. Nor are we "drifting" into that system ... We are being insidiously, conspiratorially, and treasonously led by deception, by bribery, by coercion, and by fear, to destroy a republic that was the envy and model for all of the civilized world. -- Robert Welch
“We should expect tyranny to result from democracy, the most savage subjection from an excess of liberty”.--Plato, Republic, Book VIII, 564 a
History teaches that wars begin when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap.
--Ronald Reagan, Address to the Nation, Jan 16, 1984
In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem...It is my intention to curb the size and influence of the federal establishment and to demand recognition of the distinction between the powers granted to the federal government and those reserved to the states or to the people. All of us need to be reminded that the federal government did not create the states; the states created the federal government. --Ronald Reagan, Inaugural Address, Jan 1981

West Virginia Should Not Comply with REAL ID
A state senator in Maine (the first state to refuse REAL ID) makes a compelling argument how REAL ID would not prevent terrorism and is a burden to the people. WV legislators should pass legislation against REAL ID now.

Bush's Complicity in 9/11 Proven, By His Own Words
Bush (flippantly) claims he saw the first WTC strike, live, on a TV, prior to entering the school in Florida on Sept. 11th. This could not have been done without prior knowledge and arrangements to monitor the "surprise attack" live. Argue with Bush himself if you want. We just report, you decide.
