Subject: The clock is ticking
At the end of this week the so-called "Protect America Act" (PAA) will sunset out of existence. The House and Senate must both take action to either extend the deadline or replace the PAA with something else.
A cloture vote will be held in the Senate this afternoon. If they get 60 votes for cloture then debate will end and the Senate will move to a vote on the Senate Intelligence Committee's replacement for PAA. This is a bad bill. It has everything we don't want, including immunity for the telecom companies that collaborated with the Bush administration to violate the Bill of Rights.
That's the bad news. The good news is that there is strong opposition in the Senate to this version of the replacement bill. If we can support that opposition it may prove impossible for the Senate to get the 60 votes needed for cloture. If we can prevent cloture then the clock could run out, and PAA will sunset.
But please take one more step. If one or more of your Senators is a Democrat, or one of the following Republican Senators -- Hagel, Specter, Sununu -- please pick up the phone and call them. Tell them you want the PAA to sunset, and that you want them to vote NO on cloture for the replacement for PAA.

Did Religious Groups Propel Huckabee to County Victories?
Huntington, WV (HNN) – Based on unofficial results of Cabell and Wayne County at-large candidates to the GOP presidential convention in Charleston, the former Arkansas governor and Baptist minister Mike Huckabee captured all at-large positions in those two counties. Interestingly, prior to the close of delegate registration on November 30, Huckabee had only one registered delegate in Cabell County until his delegate count soared to 27.
The following post from Backwater Report (a discerning Christian blog) proves how absolutely gullible, naive, blind and deluded many "Christians" are who are zealously backing the Huckster as their "Christian" political savior, and how defensive they are about him. The corrupt modern churches are the cause of the nation's blindness, for professing to "see" they themselves are blind, and sear many consciences against the truth. These are the same that believe that George W. Bush is a Christian (despite his "confession" that Jesus was his "greatest philosopher" and equating Allah with the God of the Bible) and who blindly supported him in his false profession, and his anti-Christian and unconstitutional usurpations of power, blatant lying and deceit, waging of unjust wars, all under the banner of a false righteousness. Given the response I received you would have thought that I had committed blasphemy by touching the Lord’s anointed.
So here is the summary of the first observation. People, including Christians, so desperately want heroes that they will turn off rational thought once they decide, for whatever reason, that some person is going to be that hero. Secondly, the Christian community is no different from the non-Christian community when it comes to shallowness, practicing thought by emotion, and sheer unmitigated gullibility.
The observation about Huckabee is that he is slick the same way that Clinton was slick except that he has added Jesus coating to his slickness. This is the my chief reason for disliking Huckabee. It is my estimation that he is cynically using Jesus to get elected. Let’s face it if it weren’t for Huckabee’s ministerial ties and willingness to invoke Jesus at every turn he would be running neck and neck with Duncan Hunter and be easily dismissed as a center-left moderate Republican (What they call a Social Democrat in Europe). Recently, I am blaming him less and less for this and increasingly I am blaming the ‘Christian community’ for being such willing naifs.

Do recall that the Charleston Daily Mail conducted a poll for republican Presidential elections back in late spring, online, where they also listed Fred Thompson as a candidate, even though he had not declared, and excluded Ron Paul. The Daily Mail should now have their hat in hand.
As for basing everything on national polls, that has now proven erroneous since Iowa, New Hampshire, and Michigan primaries. Don Surber's and Vic Sprouse's candidates, Thompson and Giuliani, respectively, are not doing as well as Ron Paul whom everyone wrote off as not standing a chance. Fred Thompson was soundly defeated (almost last with 3 percent) by republican voters in New Hampshire, while Paul and Giuliani about tied.
Could it be that the republican establishment is completely out of touch with the electorate? Could it be that the party has pushed top down on issues so long, that they have failed to hear what traditional conservatives, whom the neoconservatives usurped, are complaining about? Yes, it could very well be, and it is not a surprise to many of us, the disenfranchised.
BOTH parties have trampled the Constitution, which is precisely what partisan politics always does to the law--bending, twisting, and circumventing it for their own pleasure. This is what Americans are angry about, and want to recover the legitimate and limited government that was originally established. The republican party is as self-blinded as the democrats when it comes to seeing reality beyond their establishment orientation. Post-9/11 government by the neoconservatives in particular made it clear just what kind of new tyranny is being erected under the guise of "defending freedom", and provoked traditional conservatives, as well as classic liberal and libertarians, to react strongly and wield the Constitution against it.
America's new government needs more than just a makeover or professed "change". What is required now is a revolution, actually a counter-revolution to restore its original form and restraints, both the States and people respectively. Ron Paul is the only real candidate of substantive "change", and change for the better. Cal Thomas said the same recently:
"Mike Huckabee... sounds like a big government Republican. The only one behaving like a real Republican is Ron Paul, who actually wants to cut spending and get government out of our lives. He won't win the nomination because too many Republican are into handouts and restribution, just like Democrats.

Ron Paul, Dr. No-body, beats Rudy and Fred -- again
Well, he's hanging in there. Not only that, but Rep. Ron Paul thumped two reputed Republican heavyweights in the Michigan primary -- former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Giuliani, you may recall if you can remember anything as distant as last summer, was the longtime GOP national front-runner in polls.
But guess what? Ron Paul, the 72-year-old Texas congressman and ob-gyn who delivers babies and a strict view of the Constitution, beat Giuliani in Michigan. And beat him good.
Paul even beat Thompson this time, the real consistent conservative who was supposed to be the next Ronald Reagan until he actually announced his campaign in September.
Richard Viguerie, the noted conservative author, announced he's launching a website to support Paul. Viguerie called Paul "truly a principled conservative in the grand tradition of Robert Taft, Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan."
The so-called. Department of Homeland Security plans to take the next step in getting its controversial Real ID plan off the ground, despite opposition from numerous states and increasing resistance. Most importantly, despite the Constitution of the United States which defends States' Rights and freedom from government intrusion.
Is it not relevant that a pro-Israeli Jewish agency leads the defamatory persecution, associating AE911truth with "radical internet-based terrorism"? Do not Israel and the neoconservatives, along with the Zionist dominated media, have a vested interest in protecting the 9/11 official story, which can not possibly hold up to the evidence?

Jefferson County at-large delegates for the West Virginia GOP convention were finalized in an election Saturday, and the majority of delegates chosen were for Ron Paul.
Change for West Virginia is in the air, and this maverick, plain-speaking tax payers' friend for limited, Constitutional government is leading a revolutionary movement to change the course of Washington and take back the republican party from the neoconservatives.
This is a key political area, the heart of the West Virginia eastern panhandle, and could be a bellwether of things to come state-wide.
The West Virginia GOP establishment appears to favor Romney, but the leadership appear divided between him, Fred Thompson, and even the New York former democrat Rudolph Giuliani. Senator Vic Sprouse, for example supports and is a delegate for Giuliani, Daily Mail columnist and blogger Don Surber favors Thompson, while the GOP chair favors Romney.
It should be noted that a majority of at-large delegates state wide were uncommitted prior to the county elections. How many uncommitted delegates are elected for the convention could change the dynamic of the Feb. 5th GOP convention considerably, including candidate appearances.
CHARLES TOWN — Jefferson County Republicans voted Saturday at the Charles Town Library for 17 of the 32 delegates who will represent county party-members on Feb. 5 at the state Republican convention.
In Charleston, delegates from each county of the state will select two-thirds of the delegates to represent West Virginia at the Republican National Convention in September when the Republican candidate for president will be selected. The remaining one-third of delegates to the RNC will be selected May 13 during the West Virginia primary election.
Presidential hopeful Ron Paul was the apparent beneficiary of Saturday’s election. Seventeen of the 30 candidates for Jefferson County delegates have already committed to giving their first round of votes in Charleston to delegates who have committed to support Paul at the RNC. No other presidential candidate has more than three of the possible county delegates committed to him or her.
Obama and Ron Paul were projected in several (non-media sponsored) polls to do much better. It is possible for one or two polling companies to be wrong, but not all seven or eight. Rush Limbaugh and another pundit on 58Live with Agnello today basically lied, saying the "media" was at a loss to explain how THEY were wrong. What? The media did NOT conduct those pre-election polls. Rather Zogby, Rasmussen, and several others did, and they were right on the mark in Iowa.
One campaign trick should be admitted, the one Hillary Clinton pulled. There is circumstantial evidence that the men who yelled "Iron My Shirts", also printed clearly on a sign during a rally, was a planted provocateur, in order for Clinton to make the "sexism is alive and well" claim, and thus rally WOMEN to vote for her AT THE LAST MINUTE, thus overcoming the earlier polls potentially--or such would be their claim and explanation. NH: "First in the nation" (with corporate controlled secret vote counting) By Nancy Tobi 07 Jan 2008 81% of New Hampshire ballots are counted in secret by a private corporation named Diebold Election Systems (now known as "Premier"). The elections run on these machines are programmed by one company, LHS Associates, based in Methuen, MA. We know nothing about the people programming these machines, and we know even less about LHS Associates. We know even less about the secret vote counting software used to tabulate 81% of our ballots.
Clear Evidence Of Widespread Vote Fraud In New Hampshire
There were several major vote fraud issues to arise out of the New Hampshire primary revolving mainly around Ron Paul and Barack Obama, who were both seemingly cheated out of third and first places respectively as a result of rigged Diebold voting machines and deliberate malfeasance in the counting of hand-written paper ballots.
- Obama had a 13 to 15 point lead over Hillary Clinton heading into the primary.
- The New Hampshire town of Sutton admits that it voided every vote Ron Paul received. The Congressman got 31 votes and yet due to a “human error,” Sutton reported zero votes for Ron Paul. How “human error” can explain not counting 31 votes in succession for one single candidate is beyond the pale
- As soon as people went public with the fact that their votes in Sutton had not been counted, other districts where Paul had supposedly received zero votes, such as Greenville, suddenly changed their final tallies

Doubts grow over Iranian boat threats --Pentagon climbdown over 'you will explode' video --Mystery remains over where voice came from[It likely came from the same lab that edits the Osama bin Laden voiceovers and the Adam Pearlman threats.] 11 Jan 2008 Doubts intensified last night over the nature of an alleged aggressive confrontation by Iranian patrol boats and American warships in the Persian Gulf on Sunday, after Pentagon officials admitted that they could not confirm that a threat to blow up the US ships had been made directly by the Iranian crews involved in the incident.
Iran refutes U.S allegations with video evidence 10 Jan 2008 Iran has shown its own video of an incident in the Strait of Hormuz, in a bid to counter Pentagon accusations that Iranian troops had threatened to blow up American vessels. The footage was released by the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian force involved in the incident, to contradict Pentagon charges that Iranian speedboats swarmed around U.S warships in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, radioing a threat to blow them up. The Revolutionary Guard had said the day earlier that the film released by the Pentagon was a bad fake, with the sound and image not properly synchronised.
Official Version of Naval Incident Starts to Unravel 10 Jan 2008 Despite the official and media portrayal of the incident in the Strait of Hormuz early Monday morning as a serious threat to U.S. ships from Iranian speedboats that nearly resulted in a "battle at sea", new information over the past three days suggests that the incident did not involve such a threat and that no U.S. commander was on the verge of firing at the Iranian boats. The new information that appears to contradict the original version of the incident includes the revelation that U.S. officials spliced the audio recording of an alleged Iranian threat onto to a videotape of the incident. That suggests that the threatening message may not have come in immediately after the initial warning to Iranian boats from a U.S. warship, as appears to do on the video.

Israel has a panoply of fronts in the United States as much as the alphabet has letters:ADL, AIPAC, CUFI, JINSA, AEI to name a few. To this we could also add ABC, NBC, CNN, CBS, and of course FOX, whose executives are largely Jewish (and supported the neocon's wars based upon lies into Iraq and Afghanistan), which portray Israel and defend against any criticism of such in the most bias and favorable light. Then there are the neoconservatives (many Jewish, all Zionists in ideology) of the infamous Project for New American Century (PNAC), embedded within the present administration, pentagon, and its contractors who designed the Iraq war on false pretenses, and whom the media always interview as "terrorism experts".

In addition to these political fronts and methods above the infiltrating of American Christianity by Zionist doctrine cannot be overlooked.
Bill Moyer's Journal recently had a program analyzing Christian United for Israel (CUFI) and John Hagee's Christian Zionist political front that advocates (along with the neoconservatives) a pre-emptive strike on Iran to prevent a "nuclear holocaust". Such propaganda ought to be plainly realized on the surface by its total lack of credible evidence as well as inflammatory rhetoric. Israel in Hagee has its own (false) prophet in America and it is plain to many that his teachings do not square with the Bible or historic Christian doctrine. This religious propaganda component was clearly designed to infiltrate and sway (along with doctrinal changes introduced by Cyrus I. Scofield and other dispensationalists, largely through Dallas Theological Seminary) America's christian churches, particularly with the tenants of fundamentalism, to adopting Zionist beliefs that promote a "divine right" of modern Israel and teach that the 1948 created state represents a fulfillment of prophecy preceding Christ's return. Its true design is not for religion, however, but for political indoctrination toward Zionist foreign policy and democratic ideology. The following article is a brief demonstration that the term Christian Zionism is actually an oxymoron as much as the idea of Judeo-Christian beliefs, both of which are plainly designed to subordinate Christian doctrine with Jewish-Israel supremacy. The tenants of Christian Zionism are a novelty and unique to 20th century christian churches, coincidentally rising at the same time as political Zionism (in the last 19th and early 20th century) to establish the state of Israel on the heels of two world wars (which directly led to the creation of Israel) and an emerging United Nations (the "authority" that created Israel).
In short, Christian Zionism can be seen to have been introduced to sway Christians churches into support of the Zionist agenda which has directly influenced U.S. foreign policy and military action.It is time to expose this fraud and particularly its religious pretense and gross deception as "Christian" which the following sample of evidence makes clear.
WHERE'S CHRIST IN CHRISTIAN ZIONISM?

Three in four adult Americans believes Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. Since so many Americans respect the Bible, I wonder why they aren't more jaws dropping over Christians United for Israel (CUFI)--a "Christian" Zionist group that totally lacks Christian priorities.
“The room essentially turned into a Mega-Church, with thousands of Christians shouting and praising God, praying for the protection, safety and prosperity of Israel and the Jewish people, and for the destruction of the enemies of America and Israel, while waving American and Israeli flags and listening to the sound of shofars being blasted. And yet the name “Jesus” was not mentioned once the entire night (emphasis mine)…By the end of the night I had met so many people who just were hugging me because I was Jewish, giving me their names and asking me to pray for them (emphasis mine), telling me I was blessed by God.”
CUFI's head, John Hagee, speaks for a "50-million strong movement". He says his TV and radio ministry reaches 99 million homes.
Hagee's followers believe he preaches a Biblical message toward the Jews. They believe that by sending millions to Israel, they are obeying God's command to "bless" the Jews. It's likely that most of these churchmen and women sincerely believe they're doing the right thing. But they have been so blinded by the platitudes and false premises of Christian Zionism that they can't even recognize Hagee's grave apostasy.
This supposed "Christian leader" believes Jews can be saved without accepting Christ. "I believe that every Jewish person who lives in the light of the Torah, which is the word of God, has a relationship with God and will come to redemption" ["San Antonio fundamentalist battles anti-Semitism," Houston Chronicle, April 30, 1988, sec. 6, pg. 1.].
In his recent book, In Defense of Israel, Hagee went even farther. In an ad for the book, he says shockingly, "Jesus did not come to earth to be the Messiah."
There was outcry over this heresy. Michael Brown, a Jewish Christian and theologian, says Hagee's book explicitly states the following heresies, "The Jewish people, as a whole, did not reject Jesus as Messiah. Jesus did not come to earth to be the Messiah. Jesus refused by word and deed to be the Messiah. The Jews cannot be blamed for not accepting what was never offered." Brown says "some believers – and even leaders! – are buying into this error hook, line, and sinker, and some have begun to teach and preach it as well."
The Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations responded to Hagee's book with "serious concerns," saying his teachings contradict biblical doctrine, undermine the testimony of Jewish followers of Jesus, and weaken the cause of Christian supporters of the Jewish people.
There was enough controversy over the book that Hagee is releasing a revised edition. He wrote a letter to address the "confusion," saying that while Jesus is the true Messiah, Christians can accept Him as the "suffering Messiah" whereas Jews will not recognize Him until He comes as the "reigning Messiah." We shouldn't judge them for their mistake.
Hagee says he hopes "we can return our focus to what I had anticipated to highlight all along, the fact that we Christians must shift from condemning the Jews for what they missed to thanking them for what they gave."
This emphasis is shared by Hagee's many followers, who increasingly idolize and romanticize Jews and Judaism, exalting Jewish law and Jewish blood perhaps even more than Israeli settlers do!
Blind to Injustice
If Christians can recognize that Hagee is wrong to say Christ is not the Messiah and that Jews do not need His saving redemption, they should also be suspicious of Christian Zionism's other premises. They should take a closer look at the real situation in Israel.
In mid-December, the Red Cross broke its normally neutral silence to speak out on life in Gaza. The Red Cross said no amount of humanitarian aid can solve the crisis, and pled for political action. "In Gaza the whole Strip is being strangled, economically speaking, life there has become a nightmare," said the director of Mideast operations.
But the United States will do nothing to force Israel to dismantle settlements or stop oppressing Palestinians--not while the Israel lobby can exert so much political pressure on Capitol Hill.
The time is long past since Christians should have started analyzing their role in this lobby. American evangelicals should question their reading of the Bible, and their definition of how to "bless" Jews. Listening to John Hagee, you'd think there was just one easy interpretation of the Bible. That's hardly true.
In December, Christian Leaders from the National Council of Churches in Australia visited Israel. Their organization includes 17 diverse member churches. The leaders reported that they "were distressed to hear Palestinians, both Christian and Muslim, relate the suffering and fear experienced daily by large numbers of their people." The church leaders "saw and heard evidence of systematic harassment, physical and psychological oppression, widespread unemployment, poverty, and economic deprivation, resulting directly or indirectly from Israeli military occupation of the West Bank."
Christians, more than any other people, are obligated to disregard power and convention and seek the truth. Without truth, there can be no justice or mercy. It's high time Christians return to the Biblical truth that no group can be called "God's chosen people" unless they practice the obedience of the father of faith, Abraham.
The term "Christian Zionism" is a lie. It is Zionist. There's nothing Christian about it.
